ENGIE Commissions 450 MW of Solar in India as Khaba and Khavda Parks Enter Full Operation
ENGIE commissions 450 MW of solar in India: 250 MW Khaba park in Rajasthan and 200 MW Khavda park in Gujarat now fully operational, boosting its renewable

The 250 MW Khaba solar project, located in Barmer, Rajasthan, has been fully commissioned, according to a press release published by ENGIE on October 29, 2026. The project was developed through Khaba Renewable Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ENGIE.
Once running, it will produce approximately 650 GWh of electricity each year and avoid nearly 180 kilotonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
Khavda Park Serving Gujarat Under a 25-Year Contract
In Gujarat, the 200 MW Khavda solar photovoltaic park sits within the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in the Rann of Kutch.
The development was carried out through Enren II Energy Private Limited and is contracted to supply electricity to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement. Annual generation is expected to reach approximately 350 GWh.
Combined 450 MW Strengthens ENGIE's Indian Portfolio
With both projects now fully operational, ENGIE has added a combined 450 MW of capacity to its portfolio in India.
The company said the two projects demonstrate the Group's ability to develop and deliver large-scale renewable assets in a rapidly evolving energy market and further strengthen its renewable footprint in the country.
Roughly 80% of Construction Workforce Hired Locally
ENGIE stated that the two projects support local communities and contribute to regional economic activity. Approximately 80% of the construction workforce was hired locally, according to the company.
First Battery Storage Wins in Late 2025 and Early 2026
The commissioning milestone comes amid what ENGIE describes as strong momentum in India, where the Group has secured its first battery storage projects.
These include a 280 MW / 560 MWh battery energy storage system awarded in November 2025 and a hybrid project combining 200 MW of solar with a 100 MW / 600 MWh battery storage system secured in January 2026.
Alongside these awards, the newly commissioned solar capacities illustrate, according to ENGIE, its growing momentum in India and its strategy of combining renewable generation with flexibility solutions.
Nearly 2 GW in Operation or Under Construction Nationwide
With around 2 GW in operation or under construction in India, ENGIE said it continues to grow its presence in the country, bringing together renewable generation and flexibility solutions to help meet growing demand for reliable, low-carbon electricity.
Executive Points to Corporate PPAs and Flexibility Opportunities
Pedro Vasconcelos, ENGIE Executive Vice President in charge of Renewable & Flexible Power, said, "India is a key growth market for ENGIE, where we are continuing to build scale and momentum as we contribute to one of the world's major energy transitions. As the market evolves, we also see increasing opportunities in corporate PPAs and in combining renewable generation with more sophisticated energy management and flexibility solutions."
He added, "Our ambition is to build on this momentum and use these capabilities to create additional value for our customers and for ENGIE."
