Hartek Power Secures 80 MW Solar EPC Contract From Steel Manufacturer in Uttar Pradesh, India
Hartek Power secures an 80 MW solar EPC contract worth approximately $21.17 million in Uttar Pradesh, India, with completion expected in December 2026.
Research Desk
A leading steel manufacturer has entrusted Hartek Power with an 80 MW turnkey solar EPC project valued at approximately USD 21.17 million, the Chandigarh-headquartered company announced on 21 October 2026.
The project, located in Uttar Pradesh at a separate site from the customer's operations, is designed to support the steelmaker's captive power consumption and enable greater integration of renewable energy into its overall energy mix.
Project Completion Timeline and Market Expansion
Hartek Power is expected to complete the project by December 31, 2026.
The win strengthens Hartek Power's position in India's growing industrial renewable energy market, where energy-intensive sectors are steadily turning to clean power solutions.
Engineering, Equipment, and End-to-End Delivery
The contract places the full EPC scope with Hartek Power, spanning engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning. Alongside these services, the company will supply key project equipment, including solar modules, inverters, power transformers, and Inverter Duty Transformers (IDTs).
This integrated approach, covering both execution and equipment supply, reflects the company's established model of delivering complete solar infrastructure for industrial and utility-scale customers.
What the Win Signals for Industry Decarbonization
Simarpreet Singh, Executive Director and CEO of Hartek Power, said the increasing adoption of renewable energy by energy-intensive industries reflects a broader shift towards cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable power solutions.
He noted that the company's Commercial and Industrial (C&I) renewable energy business works closely with large industrial enterprises across India to support their decarbonization journeys and long-term net-zero ambitions.
Singh expressed pleasure at having been entrusted with the 80 MW project, which he said further strengthens the company's position in delivering integrated solar EPC solutions for industrial customers.
He added that Hartek's focus remains on combining engineering expertise, reliable equipment supply, and execution excellence to help industries transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
Why Steelmakers Are Turning to Solar
The order comes at a time when energy-intensive industries are increasingly exploring renewable energy to optimize their energy mix, improve cost efficiency, and support long-term sustainability objectives.
For sectors such as steel, where energy requirements are significant, captive renewable power can play an important role in enabling greater integration of clean energy into industrial operations while supporting more efficient power consumption.
By meeting part of its power demand through an 80 MW solar installation, the customer will be able to draw on renewable generation for its captive consumption rather than relying solely on conventional sources.
A Track Record of Grid Connections and Industrial Delivery
The new mandate builds on Hartek Power's experience in executing renewable energy projects across utility-scale and industrial segments. The company has connected more than 10 GW of solar capacity to the national grid and has executed renewable energy projects across multiple states.
Its capabilities span solar EPC and power infrastructure, covering design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and associated electrical infrastructure. That portfolio positions the company to address the evolving power requirements of industrial and commercial customers at scale, the company says.
The Company Behind the Contract
Hartek, established in 1991, is an EPC company with operations across the energy value chain, organized into three strategic business units: Power Systems, Renewables, and Power Distribution Products.
The Power Systems business has delivered more than 400 EHV and HV substations up to 765 kV.
The Renewables business, with over 10 GW of solar capacity connected to the national grid, ranks Hartek among India's Top 3 Solar EPC players.
Through its Power Distribution Products unit, the company manufactures electrical smart switchboard panels used in industries, buildings, and data centers.
Hartek is a 7-time Great Place to Work certified organization and operates under the purpose of Making Your Future Powerful by Building a Brighter Today. With the 80 MW Uttar Pradesh project now in hand, Hartek Power adds a substantial industrial-scale solar order to its growing portfolio of projects supporting India's transition towards cleaner energy and greater adoption of captive renewable power.
