Treasure Global Inc. is pushing its AI technology subsidiary into unfamiliar territory, signing a USD 367 million partnership to provide the digital backbone of a 360-megawatt solar farm in Malaysia, a move the NASDAQ-listed company says marks an intentional expansion beyond its consumer-facing digital roots. The agreement, announced September 22, 2026, pairs Treasure Global's subsidiary Tadaa Technology Sdn Bhd with renewable energy developer Kainan Sdn Bhd.
Under the arrangement, Tadaa will design, build, and operate the technology infrastructure of a proposed solar facility covering approximately 1,000 acres. A 25-year power supply agreement to serve a data centre forms the commercial backbone of the project, giving Tadaa an extended operating horizon for its technology deployment.
What Tadaa Will Build and Operate
The technology scope assigned to Tadaa is broad. According to Treasure Global, responsibilities include IoT-enabled infrastructure, intelligent energy management, real-time performance monitoring, data analytics, predictive maintenance, system integration, and secure cloud infrastructure. Together, these components are intended to form what the company characterizes as an AI-powered digital backbone supporting the reliable, data-driven management of energy generation across the facility. Upon full deployment, Tadaa is targeting approximately USD 7.3 million in annual technology-related revenue from the project.
Treasure Global described the partnership as representing a significant shift in the subsidiary's operational focus, marking its first move into large-scale renewable energy technology. Kainan, the renewable energy development partner on the project, is a Malaysia-based company established in 2007 with a specialization in solar energy. The firm participates in Malaysia's Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme, known as CRESS. The 25-year power supply arrangement is structured to deliver Tadaa a sustained commercial framework over the duration of the project.
How Treasure Global Frames the Strategic Shift
Sam Teo, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Treasure Global, described the announcement as a logical extension of capabilities the company has been building within its existing business. "This initiative represents an important step in extending our AI and technology capabilities into large-scale renewable-energy infrastructure," Teo said. "The 360 MW project, supported by a 25-year power supply arrangement for a data centre, provides Tadaa with an opportunity to establish a strong track record in AI-enabled energy management."
Teo identified the convergence of data centre energy demand and expanding renewable energy infrastructure as the market dynamic driving the company's direction. He pointed specifically to intelligent monitoring, analytics, and predictive capabilities as tools increasingly critical to improving asset performance, operational efficiency, and reliability at scale. Treasure Global stated that it intends to use the 360-megawatt deployment as a reference case for pursuing further opportunities in solar, data centre energy, and clean energy infrastructure across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The company's stated goal is to generate additional recurring technology revenue from those future engagements.
Malaysia's Policy Backdrop and the Global Solar Market
The announcement arrives against a backdrop of accelerating solar investment both domestically and internationally. Treasure Global cited International Energy Agency data showing that global solar photovoltaic capacity rose from approximately 710 gigawatts in 2020 to 1,865 gigawatts by the end of 2024. Global investment in solar PV was expected to reach approximately USD 450 billion in 2025, according to the IEA. In Malaysia specifically, the government is advancing its National Energy Transition Roadmap, referred to as the NETR, which targets renewable energy accounting for 40 percent of installed capacity by 2035 and 70 percent by 2050.
The country's upcoming Large-Scale Solar 6 program, known as LSS6, is expected to add approximately 2,650 megawatts of new capacity, representing a substantial pipeline of potential opportunities for technology providers serving the sector. Treasure Global also noted that the initiative aligns with broader global momentum toward cleaner energy infrastructure and growing environmental, social, and governance priorities among corporations and institutional investors.
Treasure Global's Core Business and Technology Foundation
Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Treasure Global operates as a Southeast Asia-focused technology company centered on AI-powered enterprise solutions and digital transformation. Its primary consumer product is the ZCITY Super App, which combines e-payment functionality with customer loyalty rewards to deliver what the company describes as a seamless online-to-offline experience. As of March 31, 2026, ZCITY had accumulated 2.71 million registered users, placing the company within Malaysia's broader digital economy. Treasure Global stated that it continuously applies technologies including artificial intelligence and data analytics across its platform's capabilities in e-commerce, fintech, and related verticals. The Tadaa solar partnership extends that technology orientation into the physical infrastructure of large-scale energy generation for the first time, representing a material diversification away from the company's existing consumer-facing platforms. Treasure Global trades on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol TGL.
