hep global Sets German Record With 35.7 MWp Solar Park
Hep global breaks German records with its 35.7 MWp Buckeläcker solar park in Eppingen, generating 38M kWh annually with 20.3 MWh battery storage.

hep global has moved its largest-ever German solar installation into the construction phase, with the 35.7 MWp Buckeläcker solar park in Eppingen now cleared for building work to begin.
The project, located in the Heilbronn district of Baden-Württemberg, sits in close proximity to the company's headquarters in Güglingen and sets a new scale benchmark for the Güglingen-based developer on its home territory.
What the Project Delivers
Covering approximately 30 hectares, the Buckeläcker solar park is designed to generate around 38 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. Hep global states that this output would theoretically be sufficient to supply approximately 10,800 households with renewable energy annually.
The installation carries a generation capacity of 35.7 MWp, surpassing all previous solar projects the company has developed within Germany. Electricity produced at the site will be fed into the regional power grid through a newly constructed substation at Hohenstein, which was purpose-built to handle the project's grid connection requirements.
Storage System Adds Commercial Flexibility
Alongside its solar generation capacity, the Buckeläcker park will incorporate an integrated green energy storage system rated at 20.3 MWh with a power output of 10 MW. Hep global says the storage component widens the technical scope of the facility while also improving the economic returns the project can generate.
The mechanism behind that improvement involves temporarily holding solar power in storage and releasing it into the grid during periods when electricity prices are elevated. By doing so, the project can respond to grid pricing signals and optimise its revenues relative to prevailing market conditions.
The company frames the inclusion of battery storage as expanding both the technical applications of the park and the commercial benefits of the electricity it produces.
Construction Handover and Timeline
With the development phase now concluded, construction coordination at the Buckeläcker site has been assigned to ZaberSolar GmbH. Hep global expects the build to be completed in the first half of 2027, pointing to a construction period of roughly eighteen months from the point at which work commenced.
The completion of the development phase is described by hep global as an important milestone, one that clears the path for immediate construction activity to proceed on site.
Significance of the Home Region Setting
The project holds particular meaning for hep global beyond its record scale. Benjamin Brasch, Manager of Project Development for South-West Germany at hep global, pointed to the combination of local commitment and internationally gathered knowledge that the project represents.
"This project is something special for us. It combines the development of a local solar project with the experience we have gained in various markets around the world," Brasch said. "The fact that we have developed our largest German solar project to date in the immediate vicinity of our headquarters also underscores our long-term commitment to the region."
Eppingen lies within the same part of Baden-Württemberg where hep global is based in Güglingen, meaning the Buckeläcker park will be a highly visible presence near the company's own operations. Brasch's remarks suggest the company views the project as evidence that development expertise accumulated across international markets can be directed effectively into domestic German projects.
A Globally Informed Domestic Push
hep global presents itself as a solar developer that has built its knowledge base by operating across a range of international markets.
The Buckeläcker project is positioned as a practical demonstration of how that broader experience translates into large-scale development in Germany. The record size of the park relative to the company's prior German projects reflects the scale of ambition hep global is bringing to its home region.
The developer describes the Eppingen installation as combining local roots with the technical and commercial understanding gathered from working in diverse markets internationally.
The newly built Hohenstein substation, the integrated 20.3 MWh battery storage system, and the involvement of ZaberSolar GmbH as construction coordinator together form the delivery framework the company has assembled to bring the project from planning into operation by the first half of 2027.
