Nexamp Gains Captona Equity Backing for 55 MW Solar and Battery Storage Portfolio Across Four US States

Captona LLC has completed a preferred equity investment alongside Nexamp, Inc., directing financing toward a community solar and storage portfolio totaling 55 MW of solar generation and 5 MWh of battery storage.

The 10 projects covered by the transaction are located in Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York.

Captona and Nexamp Forge Strategic Investment Partnership

The announcement, made on October 13, 2026, positions the deal as the next stage in the evolution of Captona's preferred equity offering, with the firm describing it as proof of its capacity to deploy capital flexibly and at scale.

Nexamp, which the companies identify as America's largest fully integrated distributed generation and community solar company, is the partner on the investment.

Nexamp on the Partnership

Anjali Patel, Vice President of Capital Markets & Strategy at Nexamp, addressed the rationale behind the collaboration. She stated that meeting rising energy demand requires bringing new generation online quickly and that achieving this depends on strong, flexible partnerships across the industry.

In her view, the capital from Captona will help advance a diverse portfolio of solar and storage projects that can deliver meaningful benefits to individuals and communities, from greater access to local clean energy to stronger and more resilient power systems.

Captona's Statement and Program History

Captona introduced its preferred equity structure in 2023 and has positioned itself as a market leader in this financing approach since then. The firm characterized the Nexamp partnership as a step forward for the program and as evidence of the trust it has established with leaders in the industry.

Izzet Bensusan, CEO and Founder of Captona, tied the investment to broader market conditions. "As power demand continues to accelerate, we're further scaling our investments to support our partners and the development of critical energy infrastructure," he said.

Bensusan added that the firm is proud to invest in projects delivered by a company it describes as best-in-class, underscoring Captona's ability to meet the evolving needs of its partners.

Advisors Involved

Kirkland & Ellis LLP acted as legal advisor to Captona on the transaction, while Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP represented Nexamp as legal advisors.

Captona's Platform

Captona is an energy transition investment firm with a North American focus. It holds close to USD 3.5 billion in enterprise value and owns and operates more than 50 energy generation projects. Its areas of concentration include storage, solar, microgrids, fuel cell, and RNG technologies.

The firm points to its diverse portfolio of energy transition assets and its record of delivering innovative financing structures as reasons it is viewed as a partner of choice by both investors and developers.

Nexamp's Operations

Nexamp describes its mission as transforming the new energy economy through solar and storage solutions that allow individuals, communities, and businesses to participate in the benefits.

The company's end-to-end capabilities span project development and acquisition, design, construction, and asset management, capabilities it says position it to accelerate the transition to a cleaner domestic grid.

Nexamp currently operates almost 1.5 GW of renewable energy-generating assets, with several more gigawatts under construction or in development. According to the company, its work building integrated clean energy infrastructure is intended to ensure that savings and job opportunities reach everyday Americans.
