Encavis Signs 60 GWh Hybrid Solar and Wind PPA with Visalia near Zaragoza
Encavis signs a 60 GWh annual hybrid solar and wind PPA with Visalia near Zaragoza, its first in Spain—delivering balanced renewable energy to customers fr

Under a three-and-a-half-year agreement with Spanish energy company Visalia, Encavis will deliver 60 GWh of renewable electricity annually from its 199 MW Aragon portfolio near Zaragoza.
A three-and-a-half-year deal rooted in Aragon
The power comes from two solar parks and three wind farms, and the deal marks the Hamburg-based renewable energy company's first hybrid Power Purchase Agreement combining solar and wind generation in Spain. Because solar and wind generate at complementary times, the PPA is designed to provide a more balanced renewable electricity supply across different times of the day and year.
What the deal means for Visalia's customers
Visalia is an independent energy and telecommunications infrastructure operator with more than 500 urban renewable energy generation facilities and over 1,000 km of electricity distribution and high-speed fibre-optic networks.
Through the agreement, the company secures 60 GWh of solar and wind power annually to support the energy needs of its growing customer base and to strengthen its renewable energy procurement and diversification strategy.
"This agreement with Encavis strengthens our strategy of providing a comprehensive energy supply to our residential customers, homeowners' associations and SMEs. By combining locally generated solar energy from our solar neighbourhoods (barrios solares) with wind power, we can complement our energy supply at night and move towards a more efficient, sustainable and competitive energy model," says Alejandro Tejero-Garcés, Managing Director of Visalia.
Spain sits at the centre of Encavis' portfolio
Spain is one of Encavis' key European markets, where the company holds 1 GW of operational solar and wind capacity. This includes the Talayuela solar park (300 MW) and the La Cabrera solar park (200 MW), which were among the first utility-scale solar parks in Europe to be built and operated without public subsidies, as well as the 150 MW Aragon wind portfolio, among others.
The recent opening of an Encavis office in Madrid further strengthens the company's presence in one of its most important markets and supports its growing customer and origination activities across Southern Europe.
"Spain is one of our most important markets, and this agreement marks another step in the transition of our business. By combining wind and solar generation with power structuring, we can offer customers solutions that better match their needs. The PPA with Visalia demonstrates how we are bringing this approach to life," says Mario Schirru, CEO of Encavis.
Hybrid structures seen as a template for Europe
For Encavis, the Visalia agreement is intended as more than a one-off transaction. "Combining solar and wind gives us greater flexibility to structure PPAs around our customers' energy needs.
This agreement shows the value of bringing complementary technologies together, and the opportunity goes far beyond a single PPA. Across Europe, we see significant potential to develop even more customer-focused solutions, including Full Supply products that position us as a long-term partner, not simply a power supplier," says Jorge Arenillas, Managing Director of Encavis Energy Solutions. Across Europe, Encavis has established relationships with a broad range of corporate and energy partners.
Company background
