Recurrent Energy, which operates as a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ), has entered commercial operation for its Court Barton Solar Farm, located in South Devon near Newton Abbot.
The announcement was made on Nov. 5, 2026.
Recurrent Energy Advances 20 MWp UK Solar Project
Recurrent Energy describes itself as a leading global developer, owner, and operator of solar and energy storage assets.
The announcement, issued from the company's base in Kitchener, Ontario, states that the facility in the United Kingdom has a capacity of 20 MWp and forms part of the country's ongoing shift toward clean energy.
Powering Homes and Cutting Carbon in South Devon
Once fully generating, Court Barton is projected to produce sufficient clean electricity to supply roughly 8,500 homes annually.
Recurrent Energy also anticipates that the solar farm will prevent more than 6,200 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, a reduction the company likens to taking about 1,300 cars off the road.
Land Set Aside for Skylarks as Biodiversity Targets Exceed Thresholds
Beyond its electricity output, the project is designed to achieve Biodiversity Net Gain exceeding 60%, with habitats set to be enhanced and local wildlife supported as a result.
A notable element of this commitment is the allocation of approximately 16 acres of land dedicated specifically to improving skylark habitat, a ground-nesting bird species whose populations have come under pressure in the UK countryside.
Local Engagement Extends to the Coastline
Recurrent Energy reports that it has kept up continuous engagement with local stakeholders throughout the project's development.
The company has also backed community initiatives, among them litter-picking activities at beaches close to the site, which it says contribute to the wellbeing of the surrounding environment.
Leadership Frames the Milestone Within a Broader Strategy
Dylan Marx, CEO of Recurrent Energy, characterized the UK as a key market in the energy transition. He noted that bringing Court Barton into commercial operation shows the company's capacity to convert its development pipeline into clean energy infrastructure capable of delivering tangible benefits.
Marx further expressed that the company is proud to back the UK's decarbonization ambitions while generating long-term value through positive contributions to the communities and environments in which it works.
