Taaleri Energia Opens 129 MWp Hallanvahti Solar Park in Finland

Taaleri Energia has inaugurated the Hallanvahti solar park in Joroinen, North Savo, celebrating the completion of one of Finland's largest solar power plants together with project partners, stakeholders and local residents. The public inauguration event started at 5:00 pm at the solar park site at Viholanniementie 132, Joroinen. The 129 MWp facility began operations at the end of June 2026.

Output sufficient for 18,000 Finnish households

The plant is fitted with 204,000 bifacial single-axis tracking solar panels, expected to produce roughly 140 GWh of electricity each year. According to Taaleri Energia, that volume corresponds to the electricity consumption of about 18,000 Finnish households. The Taaleri SolarWind III Fund invested in the project in February 2025, and funds managed by Taaleri Energia own it in full.

Building on drained peatland

Hallanvahti stands out for its setting: the roughly 200-hectare site was built on drained peatland covered by a layer of peat. The project set out to preserve the peat layer for the duration of construction and throughout the park's operational lifetime, while keeping water flows under control.

Even with the demanding ground conditions, the required investigations and construction work stayed on plan. Kai Rintala, Managing Director of Taaleri Energia, described Hallanvahti as a particularly significant project for the company in Finland, pointing to its ambitious scale, its technology and the rapid delivery schedule.

He attributed the on-time execution to the company's highly skilled partners, noting that environmental considerations received particular attention during construction. In his view, the park will deliver a significant volume of clean energy to the Finnish electricity market, supporting national resilience and the vitality of the local economy.

Who built it and how it is financed

The project was developed alongside Taaleri Energia by Etec Automation and its subsidiary 3Flash Finland. Eltel Networks handled engineering, procurement and construction, and will also provide maintenance services for the solar park.

Financing rests on a long-term power purchase agreement with Oulun Energia and project financing from SEB. The European Union supports the activities through the InvestEU Fund, and the project has additionally received funding from the EU's NextGenerationEU instrument.

Fund investors' view on rising electricity demand

Petri Isotalus, Investment Director at Taaleri Energia, thanked all project partners for what he called excellent cooperation. He described Hallanvahti as an important project for Taaleri Energia's fund investors, for Finland's energy transition and for local energy self-sufficiency. With electricity demand growing, Isotalus said renewable generation capacity is becoming an increasingly important investment theme, and he pointed to Hallanvahti as an excellent example of the trend.
