EGCO Group Closes 49% Stake in U.S. 339 MW Wind and Solar Farm Portfolio

Two Operating Plants, One Deal

Timbermill Wind in North Carolina and Coldwater Solar in Michigan are now partially owned by a Thai power producer. Electricity Generating Public Company Limited, or EGCO Group, confirmed that it has finalized the purchase of a 49% membership interest in the two facilities, which together form what the company calls the Pinnacle IV Portfolio. The combined generating capacity of the pair stands at 339 MW.

The closing took place on 25 September 2026, executed through EGCO Pinnacle IV, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of EGCO Group. Apex Clean Energy Holdings, LLC, the company's global project development partner, holds the other 51% of the membership interest. Because both plants are already in commercial operation, EGCO Group begins booking cash flows and its share of profit from the day the deal closed, with no development risk attached to the assets.

Why the Company Chose PJM and MISO

EGCO Group points to three features that made the portfolio attractive. Revenue arrives immediately, since both projects are commercially running and generate returns and cash inflows as of the closing date. The geographic placement matters as well: the assets sit in what the company describes as the largest U.S. clean power markets, PJM and MISO, with the North Carolina and Michigan facilities located in regions marked by strong electricity demand and grid infrastructure built to accommodate clean energy growth.

The third feature concerns revenue quality. Cash flows are supported by long-term power and environmental attribute offtake arrangements, along with Renewable Energy Certificates contracts, all held with investment-grade offtakers. In the company's assessment, these arrangements deliver stable and predictable income streams over the long term.

What It Means for EGCO's Capacity Mix

With the deal in place, EGCO Group's total renewable energy capacity rises to 1,785 MW, now representing 26% of the company's overall equity capacity. The company reported, as of 28 September 2026, a total equity contract capacity of 6,928 MWe covering both operating assets and projects under construction. That renewable portfolio stretches across a range of technologies: biomass, hydropower, solar, onshore and offshore wind, fuel cells, and battery energy storage systems. EGCO frames the transaction as part of its drive toward a low-carbon society and its continued build-out of green energy assets at home and abroad, concentrating on high-quality assets backed by long-term offtake arrangements in the PJM and MISO markets.

The President's View: Milestone Under POWER4

Mr. Tawatchai Sumranwanich, President of EGCO Group, said the company follows a clear strategic direction and policy to accelerate the growth of its green energy portfolio across domestic and international projects. He characterized the Pinnacle IV acquisition as another major milestone under the company's "POWER4" strategy, which emphasizes "Profitability and Performance Energizing." Under this approach, the company selectively invests in high-quality, commercially operating renewable assets in order to foster balanced growth, raise its clean energy proportion worldwide, and strengthen long-term earnings stability.

Looking ahead, Mr. Tawatchai said EGCO Group will keep advancing its green energy portfolio on two fronts. Domestically, the company is preparing for upcoming renewable power tenders under PDP 2026 and Direct PPA. Internationally, it intends to expand clean energy assets aggressively, with the United States identified as the company's secondary strategic base.

Fitting Into an Existing American Lineup

The new assets do not stand alone. EGCO Group already holds power assets in the United States, including Apex Clean Energy, Pinnacle II, Linden Cogen, and the Compass Portfolio. Adding Pinnacle IV to that lineup, the company says, creates a highly flexible and resilient portfolio structure capable of responding to the megatrend of surging green electricity demand fueled by the rapid growth of data centers, AI technology, and future industries. Mr. Tawatchai noted that this synergy further underscores the company's strict financial discipline and its commitment to delivering sustainable, "Gold Standard" returns to shareholders. The company, he said, is focused on increasing clean energy capacity globally and on seizing what it terms "Gold Standard" growth opportunities arising from data center and AI expansion.

Inside EGCO Group's Broader Business

The power business is not the whole of EGCO Group's operations. The company also runs energy-related businesses spanning fuel and utilities infrastructure, customer solutions, and startup ventures. Its power and energy-related investments extend across seven countries: Thailand, Lao PDR, the Philippines, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States. On the recognition front, EGCO Group was selected for the global Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJ BIC) 2026 in the Electric Utilities category for the Emerging Markets Index, where it achieved the highest score in its peer group. The company has also appeared in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for five consecutive years.
