T1 Energy Secures 1.58 GW in Solar Module Offtake Deals, Pushing 2027 Contracted Capacity Beyond 4 GW in the US

T1 Energy Inc. (NYSE: TE), the Austin, Texas-based solar manufacturer, said on October 30, 2026, that it has entered into new offtake agreements covering more than 1.58 GW of advanced solar modules.
The counterparties include subsidiaries of independent power producer Avantus, along with other customers not named in the announcement, which was issued from Austin and New York.
T1 Energy Contracts Over 4 GW of 2027 Solar Capacity
The contracts commit T1 to supplying high-performance, high-efficiency TOPCon modules from its G1_Dallas module facility for delivery in 2027 and 2028.
According to the company, those modules are expected to combine imported solar cells with cells produced domestically at T1's G2_Austin cell fabrication plant, which remains under construction in Rockdale, Texas.
Once the new agreements are counted, the company states that more than 4 GW of its 2027 manufacturing capacity is now under contract.
CEO Ties Texas Production to Grid and AI Demand
Dan Barcelo, T1's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, framed the agreements around the technology and the customers he says need it. "TOPCon is one of the most advanced crystalline-silicon module technologies in commercial production today," Barcelo said. "America's AI infrastructure and energy grid need high-efficiency modules, and we're building them here, in Texas."
The company identifies AI infrastructure buildout and the broader energy grid as the demand drivers behind its strategy to manufacture high-efficiency modules domestically.
Rockdale Cell Fab Underpins Domestic Content Targets
The newly signed deals align with T1's effort to raise the share of U.S.-made content in its products. Construction of the G2_Austin facility began in December 2025, and the first phase, with expected capacity of 2.1 GW, is anticipated to start cell production in the first quarter of 2027.
T1 says it expects to offer modules with greater than 60 percent domestic content in 2027. The offtake agreements explicitly contemplate modules that pair imported cells with output from the Rockdale fab, making the facility central to that plan.
Company Points to Traceable Supply Chain as Commercial Pitch
T1 describes its commercial approach as offering customers a traceable and reliable solar supply chain. Through its 5 GW module facility at G1_Dallas, the company says it provides integrated solutions that help clients optimize project schedules, financing, and returns.
The company frames this as part of a broader push to build a leading domestic solar supply chain by reshoring manufacturing, with the new agreements converting capacity into committed sales for the 2027 and 2028 windows.
Patent Acquisition Anchors TOPCon Offering
The modules covered by the agreements use Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact, or TOPCon, solar cells. T1 states its view that TOPCon is the most advanced, highly efficient commercially viable solar technology available.
In July, the company announced it had acquired foundational TOPCon solar patents and other intellectual property, which, together with its domestic manufacturing footprint, forms the basis of its module offerings.
Company Profile
T1 Energy describes itself as an energy solutions provider building an integrated U.S. solar supply chain.
In December 2024, it completed a transaction it characterizes as transformative, positioning it among the leading U.S. solar manufacturers with a complementary solar and storage strategy.
The company, based in the U.S. with plans to expand American operations, is also exploring value optimization across its European asset portfolio.
